The good old days of watching adult movies in a theater will be back this weekend in New Mexico.
Albuquerque repertory theater The Guld Cinema has announced its second Pornotopia film festival, in association with local adult store Self Serve. The festival will run from Nov. 14-16.
"Imagine a world where erotic films don’t offend, but arouse. Where orgasms are real and filmmakers are independent," a press release from the festival said. "Pornotopia showcases sex on the big screen that is healthy, tender, raw, real and beautiful. In Pornotopia sex is fun, everyone gets off, and pleasure is paramount."
The eclectic selections include productions featuring masturbation, transsexuals, lesbians, BDSM, porn performers at play, a 1950 erotic film by Jean Genet and a live performance by Mink Stole. Filmmakers represented include Erika Lust, Maria Beatty, Carlos Batts, Shine Louise Houston, Jayme Waxman, Petra Joy, Audacia Ray and Tristan Taormino.
The first Pornotopia, held last year, led to court action as the showing of adult material conflicted with zoning regulations for the theater.
The Guild is located at 3405 Central Ave. NE, in Albuquerque. A complete schedule of the festival and information about tickets can be seen here.
